Reputation management

Reputation management is the influencing and/or control of an individual’s or business’s reputation. Originally a public relations term, the advancement of internet and social media use, along with reputation management companies, have made it primarily an issue of search results.

Social media optimization (SMO) is the use of a number of social media outlets and communities to generate publicity to increase the awareness of a product, brand or event. Types of social media involved include RSS feeds, social news and bookmarking sites, as well as social networking sites, such as Twitter, and video and blogging sites. SMO is similar to search engine optimization in that the goal is to generate traffic and awareness for a website. In general, social media optimization refers to optimizing a website and its content in terms of sharing across social media and networking sites.

Okay, sure, yes but what is it really?

Have you had a poor review by a client of customer? It happens, sometimes its justified who hasn’t had a bad experience with a service provider we all have. It could be your local pizza shop or it could be a company you hired to in your business to install some equipment. All business make mistakes and the what most clients or customer care about the most is that the problem is resolved to their satisfaction.

If you have been in business long enough you know that is sometimes possible and sometimes its not. Stay with me here; don’t you have to know there is a problem in order to determine what you can do to resolve it? Yes you do and if you don’t know what happens? They tell other people and other business that they are dissatisfied. Other times oh they let you know! No matter what the situation you have to manage it and that is not very practical when you have everything else going on day to day.
